The 8-color screen check, color by color

Each color interrogates a different part of your panel. Run them in order — the whole sequence takes about a minute:

Looking for the dedicated tools? The white screen, black screen and purple screen pages add brightness shades and image downloads. For gradients, grayscale steps, motion and uniformity patterns, move on to the full monitor test.

Reading the results

A dot that stays black on every color is a dead pixel — permanent hardware failure. A dot that stays lit on black is a stuck pixel; it sometimes recovers after the panel warms up. Something blurry that moves when wiped is dust. Lines that run the full width or height of the screen are usually cable or driver faults — see the lines on screen diagnosis.

Color screen test FAQ

How do I switch full-screen colors?+

Click any color to go full screen, then press ← → (or tap the arrows) to cycle through all 8 colors without leaving full screen. Esc or a tap exits.

Which colors should I test?+

All eight take under a minute: white finds dead pixels and dust, black finds stuck pixels and bleed, red/green/blue expose single-channel faults, and yellow/cyan/purple reveal uniformity and tint problems.

What is an RGB test?+

Showing pure red, pure green and pure blue one after another exercises each sub-pixel channel separately. A dot that only looks wrong on one of the three colors is a stuck or dead sub-pixel, not dust.
